Clothed with Grace: Season Switch: Add a Blazer

Season Switch: Add a Blazer

Today I'm going to share with you my third tip for switching seasons. I have a lot of dresses that I tend to think are strictly for summer; this dress is one of them.  What a waste of a cute dress though! That's where the blazer comes in.  I recently found this great cobalt one at Loft on sale and it's the perfect addition to this dress.  Simply adding a blazer makes this outfit make the "Season Switch" and I don't have to solely enjoy this dress in the Summer.  Hint: I find this works best when the materials are similar, as they are here.  If you try add a poly-blend blazer to a jersey dress, this look probably won't work. But a cotton jersey blazer with a jersey dress will be perfect.

  11. I love this! The blazer definitely takes the dress into fall. I also like the professionalism that a blazer can add to a summery dress. But it's been a little too warm to start wearing my blazers yet.

  16. I am with you! I usually throw on a cardigan or a blazer over my dress. This would also be cute with tights and/or booties!

  27. Such a great tip- love that Loft blazer! I just went online and ordered the blue and coral versions-- should be perfect for adding some personality to my new "corporate chic" wardrobe! Would you say the blazer runs true to size?

  29. I love doing the same thing with my summer dresses! Adding a blazer makes them more weather appropriate, but I also love the way it dresses up my dresses. I'm a huge fan of a dress with a blazer, tights, and boots for fall :)
