Now, I did buy a bunch of things in May the second my own pants and skirts got snug, but haven't been shopping since. It's kind of funny how being pregnant has taken away my shopping bug. I know I know I have enough, so why go buy more? Wouldn't it be great if I could apply this same concept after I've had this sweet baby?
I love this verse in Phillippians 4:11-13 "I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances. I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. I can do all this through him who gives me strength."
Paul definitely went though some very crazy things, being a follower of Christ, yet he learned to be content. I believe we are called to be content too. It can be so easy in our social media age to want, want, want, but all the stuff in the world will never give us the happiness and contentment that we can have though Christ.
I really want to work to feel content with what I have and not keeping buying, just to buy. What about you? Are you content or are you a work in progress?

ReplyDeleteour family just got back from an awesome Christian Family Camp in Buchanan, MI... one of the sermons we heard was about giving... the leader talked about thinking of every dollar as a potential missionary... "the dollar missionary"..... this completely convicted me of all the mindless trips I make to shop... thanks for sharing this post :-)

I feel the same way being pregnant! I've found a few essentials and some tops, but I don't want to go overboard with too many maternity pieces. I have bought some more flowy tops that will work after the baby is born, but now I find that my shopping bug is geared more towards baby outfits:) I do love the idea of being content with what I have, though. ReplyDeleteI remember feeling the same way about maternity clothes. I didn't want to buy a lot because I knew I wasn't going to be wearing them for a long time. You certainly got some great essentials! I love all the neutrals with that bright necklace!
