Outfit Perfection

You are looking at two of the best purchases I've made lately. One, this dress and two, this blazer.  If you read my post Wednesday you know I felt like I was playing dress-up with my clothes while trying to prepare some posts lately. I wasn't feeling like "me." This outfit today is me. I wore this to church recently and felt like a million bucks. I feel like I've been working to create a polished look and a cohesive closet. Over the last few months I've stepped away from thrifting and shifted towards more purposeful shopping; this blazer and dress have come from that. I still pay attention to the price tag, but that's no longer the biggest contributor into me deciding to make a purchase. I'm thinking tats a good thing.

Dress: Loft $35 same (with giftcard from Chippmunk giveaway I won)
Blazer: H&M $25 similar
Necklace: Stella and Dot just bling from Sutton
Bracelets: Stella and Dot RenegadeUrbane
Shoes: Bandalino $30 similar

  1. Love the dress Ginny. I totally think that it's about finding the right piece whether it's from shopping or thrifting. Both pieces are so versatile and look great on you.

  2. I love that you're being more purposeful in your shopping. Just a few days ago I sat down and really thought about what my closet's missing. Instead of browsing the clearance racks for whatever, I'm now hunting for the perfect version of the things I want. :-)

  3. I like the idea of purposeful shopping. I have been trying to buy my daughter a couple of skirts that she can wear during different seasons - just add tights for colder months. It is fun to see how you can mix your closet for different weather! Susan

  4. You will get SO much use out of that black blazer! I try to think of at least 3 ways I can style an item with things I already have in my closet before I purchase it. Have a great weekend!

  8. This is lovely! And purposeful shopping is a good thing. Evolving in your style and how you shop is also a good thing. And being you is the best thing! You go girl!

  9. I'll probably say this every time you wear it, but I love that dress! It looks great with the blazer, too!

  12. Love the dress and blazer! And I agree, very YOU, Ginny :)
I've strayed away from thrifting too lately (mainly because I've had no time for it and because the thrift stores out here suck). I'm with you though, I've been working on buying items that serve a purpose in my closet and allow me to make many many outfits with.

  14. Oh I love this! That dress is so flattering with the light 'bunching' at the waist (that's probably not the right term but you know what I mean!). Have a great weekend!

  15. ugh. I know what you mean.

There was a period of time (not that long ago) that I would go to the Goodwill several times a week (like an addict, lol!) just to look (yeah right!) and wound up looking through everything and buying so much stuff just because of the label/blogging trend-of-the-week! Obviously the price was right, but still, that's not justifiable. I felt so bad when, after about 6 months of this, my closet was almost 65%/75% GW stuff purchased solely for the label/trend, but I NEVER wore them. ANY of them! I had horrible cases of "I have nothing to wear!" because it was just all pieces, nothing cohesive. That is my fault, but it's still shameful!

We had a massive yard sale and I was able to unload it all for more or less what I paid for it, but dang it, I should have spent money on stuff I would actually wear. Now I have a weeded out closet and I am slowly buying things I truly love AND play nicely with the other things in my closet. Finally.

    Cute outfit, BTW. ;)

  17. What a gorgeous outfit! I love your pretty dress.
I'm definitely trying to be more purposeful with my shopping too--I need to have a wardrobe that works together rather than just random pieces I found on sale!

  18. ahhhh! I wish you wore this dress on Wednesday! I almost bought it but for some reason hesitated and didn't buy it! Now, I regret it! You look great!

  19. I've had the same problems when coming up with posts...especially since I'm a stay at home mom and a lot of the times, the outfits I present are not necessarily the ones I'm wearing. Who wears heels when they don't even leave the house? Not even me. But I'm glad to know that it's just a little funk that you can push your way out of. Love this look...I wish I was a blazer person!

  21. This is a great look! And I love how you said the price is no longer the biggest contributor to buying something. I definitely think that's great advice that will give your closet more versatility!

  25. I love when an outfit "clicks" and feels just right. Lately I've been a bit uninspired with my blog outfits and it shows...like here it shows how confident you feel! Finding the perfect black blazer is always a victory as well :)
