Clothed with Grace: Leopard

Leopard

Who is your "person?" It might sound like a weird question, but it's one I've been thinking about a lot lately.  Who are you surrounding yourself with?  Do you build each other up, or do spend a lot of time commiserating together?  I feel like my attitude right now is the best it's been in a long time and I think it's a reflection of how I'm spending my time and who I'm surrounding myself with.

I have great, authentic friends both at and away from work, that I don't feel like I need to impress-they accept me as I am. Time isn't spent gossiping and tearing others down, it's spent building each other up and collaborating with genius educational ideas together.  This wasn't the case in years past.  I shared with you all a while back that I stepped back from some friendships, and it was for the best. I never really felt like I was accepted for who I was.  Was my outfit cute enough? Was I funny enough?  Would they still like me if they really knew (fill in the blank with any number of things)?  It was exhausting.  And sad, so sad.  I thought I had a "person," well "people," but really I didn't.

I guess my point is, we only get this little bit of time here on earth in comparison to eternity and I don't think it does anyone any good to let someone make us feel like we are less than we really are.  I'm so thankful for the friends I have now, they bless me in so many ways I never imagined.

  2. It's hard to find authentic, positive people to align yourself with. I am so glad you found a group of people you can call true friends!

  3. What a positive and uplifting post! I'm so happy for you that you have such good quality friendships. I, too, feel like I have some amazing people in my life...although most of them live far away from me right now. But alas, they are never more than a phone call away! You are looking great today, as always!

  4. Cute leopard print, and the statement necklace adds a good amount of polished chic. I am learning about how I spend my time too and I am glad you touched up on the "who we spend our time with" as it is true. I am glad you are you and finding the time you need and friends that matter. God Bless! Rachel xo

  5. I'm so happy for you that you have a group of women who build you up. That can be really hard to find. You're so right that we should surround ourselves with positive people that accept us for who we are. It's too exhausting to always try to be on top of our game for people. Thanks for this today, Ginny:) p.s. love how you styled this skirt! Hope you're having a great day!

  7. Very inspiring words. Stepping back from friendships is hard but you never should have to question whether you're doing something right or not. Gorgeous outfit!

  9. Ginny-It is amazing how God can connect you with others in unexpected ways like through a fashion blog. I can so relate to what you are talking about. I am going through a bit of a life change and it is so wonderful to be surrounded by positive, loving, and like-minded people. I have a very small circle that I converse with and I am good with that.

  10. Amen, sister!! I cannot believe the amazing ways my life has improved once I started spending my time with people who really lifted me up. I'm glad you found that as well. That is exactly what Third Day Hair is about these days, and it has a fire lit so deep in my belly I cannot wait to see where it goes!

Your jewelery is everything in this outfit, love the bracelets together!!

  11. I also walked away from 'friends' that were no good for me so I can relate. My friends now are so supportive and genuine, we can talk about anything. I love your leopard print skirt. I have a couple myself. They're classic yet trendy. You look great.
