Clothed with Grace: Chambray and a Utility Jacket

Chambray and a Utility Jacket

Last year I wanted a utility/military vest badly, but couldn't find one anywhere.  I finally stumbled onto one at JCP for $8. I nabbed it up, but it was a size to big.  I make it work, but really wanted one with cleaner lines....and one in my size.  I figured I'd find a replacement this fall, well, they seem to sell out as soon as they hit the selves or site.  I finally found one at Wet Seal of all places, but all they had left was large sizes on line.  I called a location near me and found one in my size. I really like the cut and lines on this, and decided to pair it with a few of my favorite things today: my chambray, pearls, perfect black pants and literally my favorite shoes of all time.

I wore this last weekend for errands, then a birthday party with Grant, then a Fall Bash at church.  It was the perfect comfortable and put-together look, one I'm sure I'll repeat......a lot.

  1. I have a utility jacket, but it is camo. I am not sure I like it. It has hung in my closet for a year and I have never worn it. Would you style a camo jacket? I think I need a regular one too(: Great look today! Susan

  2. This kind of outfit is an early Fall formula for me. Love your new vest, slightly different than most utility ones I have seen. That bib pearl necklace is gorgeous, also.

Happy Wednesday and Happy Halloween to you guys!

  4. Ohhhhh this outfit is perfect! I love the light chambray. I need to find me one like it! I bought those same pants per Inge's reccommendation and I love them! Only thing is- they stretch out like crazy during the day, so then they end up looking huge on me. Do you dry yours in the dryer? I didn't because I was scared they'd shrink.
Also, I never noticed that your other vest didn't fit right, but I gotta say that the overall style of this one is way more you :)

  5. Cute, cute! I had a full-on utility jacket and got rid of it last year. Kind of kicking myself because they're back in now. Oh well!

  9. I actually got my utility vest at Wet Seal too! I got the shorter studded one though. I am all about having an open mind when it comes to finding what I want in a piece of clothing :)
You look great, and I love the idea of pairing a utility vest with chambray and pearls!

  11. I have been wearing the heck out of my utility vest this fall--it's the perfect addition to almost any outfit, no matter what the vibe! I've been pairing it with some of my summer maxi dresses, too- great transition piece!
