These men had "judged" this woman according to the law and thought they knew the punishment.
Sometimes we might find ourselves in a similar situation, someone is doing something we know "isn't right," either by the law, our own moral compass, or our based on our political beliefs, but it isn't our place to declare judgement on them. After all, there is only one true judge, and we will all be held accountable one day.
Jesus, being the one true judge does say to the women, "Go and sin no more." He does recognize her mistakes, and calls her to leave them in the past and start anew. It's worth reflecting on our own lives and own mistakes, because Jesus says the same thing to us: "Go and sin no more." Let's leaving judging others out of it and start showing love to others instead. Now, I don't say this to excuse personal sin, but we can always choose to love people and not agree with the choices they make.
"They will know we are Christians by our love."
I wore this outfit last Saturday night for a friends surprise party. I haven't gotten to dress up much this summer, so it felt good to put on heels and dressy jewelry. My Loft white jeans are one of my favorites, so once I found out I was pregnant one of my first purchases were these white jeans from Target, and they're getting the job done for now. : ) I got this top recently from thredUp. It was new with tags and I love the lace details it has too! If you haven't tried thredUp use this link to get $10 off your first purchase.

I love the lace details on the top.
ReplyDeleteThis is such a pretty look--I love the lace details on that top and that necklace! White jeans are such a summer staple for me too.
ReplyDeleteI love She Reads Truth, and I definitely needed the reminder to have more grace and be more loving. And they'll know we are Christians... is one of my favorite hymns :)
I really struggle with this one Ginny. In our world today, Christians are judged very differently than others. We are expected to accept other people's sins or we are labeled as judgmental. I am working hard to love the person and dislike the sin. It is tough though(: I do love your top! You can find so many great items at ThreadUp! Have a blessed weekend! Susan
ReplyDeleteYou look amazing as always and this post I shared with my best friend who also shares the same values and the struggle it is.
ReplyDeleteHave an amazing weekend!

I'm formerly born-again, currently bordering on agnostic-atheist. I respect you so much for this post. I think both sides have gotten really extreme on being loud about their own views and we've lost sight on how to coexist with different beliefs.
