Life Lately

It's been a busy couple of weeks, so today I thought I'd share what we've been doing. I've shared these pictures on Instagram, but thought I'd share them on here too!

I've been wearing a lot of easy outfits, like this one. Everything I'm wearing is from Target, surprise, surprise. The top and these shoes are old but these maternity shorts and this embroidered bag are still available.  This bag is probably my favorite purchase this summer and has been great for hauling around everything I need.

I've also been reminded about faith as being a fruit of the spirit lately. Sometimes we think we have to have it all figured out and make our faith grow all on our own, but really once we become Christians the Holy Spirit lives in us, and it's though that we can increase our faith, not to mention all the other fruits of the spirit like kindness and gentleness.  I think I needed the reminder that it's not on me to have it all figured out, but to let the Holy Spirit live in me and help direct my steps.

Grant turned five!  Holy Smokes!  We had a bowling party for him and this is the only picture I took. I think this reminds me that when you're having a good time, you're focused on that and not capturing the moment on film. The boys had a blast and and thankfully the parents stuck around, so that made it more fun for me too. : )

We also took a short trip to visit Kansas City. We have some friends who were in town visiting and decided to meet up. We went to T-Rex Cafe and although it was fun to see all the 3D dinosaurs, it was pretty much a gimmick. The boys seemed to like it, but I don't think we'll be going back.

The next day we went to Fritz's Railroad Restaurant at Crown Center. This place was cool, it's simply a burger joint with fast food prices, but you order through a phone at your table then a train deliver's the food to your table. Grant loved it!

We then went to Lego Land. We went last summer too, but I had a buy one, get one free coupon and thought it would be fun for Grant to go again, since he loves Legos. He had fun, but wasn't as excited this time, since he'd done everything before. We had a good afternoon, though, and that's what matters.

After being gone to Table Rock Lake for ten days, then Kansas City for a few more days, it's nice to be home. We restocked the fridge and I'm currently going through a phase called "Eat All the Watermelon!" I can't get over it's deliciousness. We'll see how long this watermelon lasts before we need to get another one from the store....

We had Brian's parents and mine over on the 4th for dinner then some fireworks.  Grant pretty amped to set off fireworks this year!

Dad even let him light some of his tanks and other one's he'd picked out with the punk. Grant thought that was pretty awesome.

Grant also got to try sparklers for the first time and loved them. We had some friends BBQing across the street and there was a little girl about Grant's age there. We'd been going back and forth between our house and theirs. Grant thought she'd want to do a sparkler too, so they had fun doing that together.

Summer has been great so far, it's hard to believe it's half over. I literally report back to school in a month and Grant starts kindergarten shortly after that . Holy Smokes!
