This time around Brian and I have had a lot less to buy to get ready for Hannah's arrival, which has been really nice. I've also scored some good deals too, like a working Medela pump at a garage sale for only $5. At the same time, I've been presented with multiple situations in which my financial help has been needed, and it's felt really good to be able to help out.
I have to be honest, sometimes I find myself holding onto "my money" a little too tightly. Brian and I each get a set amount of money to spend as we wish each month, and sometimes I find myself becoming a tight wade. But reality is, I have more than enough. Me holding onto my money too tightly isn't the best idea. Saving is always good, but I also feel my eyes need to be opened as to how I can help when it's needed.
God says “Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also."
Buying things for ourselves can be a nice treat, but we should also have our eyes opened to ways to help others too. You never know how you simple act of kindness can impact someone's life for the better.
And, of course, one picture with this guy. : )

ReplyDeleteHoly Cow Ginny, I am so glad I read your blog today...God sent me here for sure. My brother has fallen on some hard times and I know I need to step up and offer him some financial help. I have the money and planned on helping him out but was feeling some angst because I hate parting with my savings! I know I am called to help my brother and reading your blog today just gave me the sense of security I needed. I know it will come back to me in some other form or fashion and will rest easy knowing that. Oh yeah, cute sweater, you are looking wonderful!
ReplyDeleteSuper cute cardigan!
