9 Book Club Must Reads

Reading is definitely one of my favorite hobbies, although I don't have time to read like I used to before Hannah was born. One thing I do look forward to each month is book club, so today I thought I'd share some great reads we've read in my book club or I think would be great ones for discussion in a book club.

I've done review on each of these books, so I'm linking to each review as well as to the book to purchase it.

First up is All the Light We Can Not See, this powerful book takes place during World War II in France. See my original review here.

Next is The Book of Unknown Americans. This powerful work of fiction follows the lives of a group of Latino people who all live in the same apartment complex. This book is important! Check out my original review here.

Third is Big Little Lies, the first book I read by Liane Moriarty. It was a page turner! It follows the lives of three women who all have kids in the the same kindergarten class. It is amazing! Check out my original review here.

The Girl on the Train is coming out in theaters soon, and I definitely recommend reading the book first. I could not put it down! The main characters becomes mixed up in the case of a missing women and this story will keep you guessing until the very end! Read my original review here.

What Alice Forgot is another Liane Moriarty novel I loved. Imagine waking up after a head injury and forgetting the last ten years of your life. What if the person you've become isn't at all who you intended? This thought provoking novel will create great discussion! Check out my original review here.

The Nightingale is officially one of my favorite books of all time. This story follows the lives of two sisters in France during World War II and is AMAZING!  Check out my original review here.
The Art of Racing in the Rain is a heartwarming story told from the point of view of a dog, Enzo. I would actually like to re-read it soon. I liked it that much! Check out my original review here.

I have never read another story quite like I Am the Messenger. After the main character's life is turned upside down in a robbery he starts receiving messages with instructions. He begins to realize that one person can make a difference. This beautiful story will really make you think! Check out my original review here.

We just read The Martian last month. It was the first time I saw the movie before reading the book. The main character, an astronaut, ends up being left on Mars during a freak storm when he's assumed dead. Surprise, he's not dead! This story follows the journey as he tries to survive and make it back to earth. It was so good! Check out my original post here

The Kitchen House is a book I finished while I was in labor. Seriously.  I couldn't stop reading it. It follows the lives of two girls, both slaves of sorts, on a plantation in the south. It was gripping, thought provoking, and important! Check out my original post here.

What book recommendations do you have? I'd love to add some more to my list!

  2. I loved Big Little Lies, The Girl on the Train, and The Martian (audio for The Martian is amazing). I've put down The Nightingales more times than I can count because the timing wasn't right. I see a few I'll be adding to my book club lists. Thanks for recommending!
